Carver County is located in the southeast part of Minnesota and is one of seven counties that make up the major Twin Cities Metro area. Its county seat is one of its two most populous cities, Chaska.
The county itself was named after the American writer and explorer Jonathan Carver, who was contracted to lead the expedition to find a western water route to the Pacific Ocean, the Northwunty, has abundant small to medium sized lakes such as:

The county seat of Chaska, a Sioux name often given to the first born male child, started as a trading post established by Jean-Baptiste Faribault in the early 1800’s. In 1851, it officially opened as “Little Rapids” when Thomas Andrew Holmes claimed a 20 acre clearing as the townsite.
