Chanhassen is also known as the home of world famous Paisley Park Studios and Paisley Park Records, the recording label used by Prince and the studios of the same name were constructed in 1985. Warner Brothers shut down Paisley Park in 1993, but Prince reemerged with NPG Records the same year to continue his recording efforts.
Another popular Minnesota destination located just outside the city of Chanhassen is the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. It is about 4 miles west of the town limits and contains 1047 acres making it the largest public garden in the upper mid-west. Its actually part of the Department of Horticultural Science in the College of Agricultural, Food, and Environmental Sciences of the University of Minnesota and is open daily to the public (except Thanksgiving and Christmas).
Chanhassen is accessible to the bulk of the Twin Cities by its main thoroughfare, highway 5 running east/west through the center of the city. It also contains County Road 41 and 101 which divide it from its neighboring Eden Prairie. Chanhassen is also neighbors with Excelsior, Shorewood, Victoria, Chaska, and Jackson Township. It also touches corners with Shakopee on its southeast and Minnetonka on its northeast corners.
