Saint Louis Park, colloquially referred to as "SLP", is not a large city, compared to most of Hennepin County cities, but it is often a popular one for people looking for a single-family home. Unlike many of its neighbors, St. Louis Park real estate, does not have a lot of big beautiful lakes, as a matter of fact Bass Lake is its largest and most well-known. It does, however still contain a lot of beautiful walking and bike paths that connect it to other cities and to the uptown/lakes area of Minneapolis.

Saint Louis Park is a first ring suburb immediately on the west side of Minneapolis and attached to Southwest Minneapolis and the part of town known as Calhoun-Isles. When, in real estate, you hear the 3 most important factors (location, location, and location), you might be describing Saint Louis Park homes. The commute to downtown or uptown is only a matter of minutes and most other suburbs are also in relatively close proximity. Saint Louis Park also sports it’s own retail downtown area as well as being within 10-15 minutes of other communities and large malls such as Southdale and Ridgedale.

Also because of its proximity to downtown Minneapolis, after World War II there was an enormous housing boom which resulted in a massive amount of construction in the area. As a matter of fact approximately 60% of St. Louis Park homes were built during the late 40’s and early 50’s. And, at the time, the streetcar came through the area offering direct access to downtown shopping, dining and employment.

Today, the streetcar is gone, but Saint Louis Park remains, having finally gained it’s status as a city in 1954 giving it the ability to hire a city manager and now boasts some of Minnesota’s premier academics and youth sports teams.
